How to Share Video Lessons with Your Students on Google Classroom or Canvas
If your district blocks Vimeo for student devices, you're not alone. Many schools limit access to video hosting platforms, making it tricky to share online lessons. Fortunately, there’s a super simple workaround that ensures your students can still view the Taking on the B.E.S.T math video lesson.

Here’s the step-by-step guide to get your videos student-ready in your learning platform of choice.
Step 1: Download the Video File
  1. Log into your McCarthy Math Academy membership portal.
  2. Navigate to the video lesson you want to share. Choose "click here to download this video."
  3. When the Vimeo site opens, look for the “Download” button beneath the video player.
  4. Click it — the video will begin downloading directly to your device.
📝 Tip: If your browser asks where to save the file, choose your desktop or a clearly labeled folder so you can find it easily.
Step 2: Locate the File on Your Computer
After downloading, you’ll need to find the video file so you can upload it elsewhere.
  • On Windows: Open your "Downloads" folder or search by the filename. 
  • On Mac: Open Finder and check your "Downloads" folder. 
  • You may want to rename the file if needed so it’s easy to identify (e.g., “Lesson 2: Add and Subtract Fractions”).
Step 3: Upload to Your Learning Platform
Now it’s time to upload the video to whichever platform your students use.

If you're using Canvas:
  1. Go to the course module or assignment where you want to include the video.
  2. Click “Upload” or “Files.”
  3. Choose your downloaded video file.

If you're using Google Classroom:
  1. Open the class you want to post in.
  2. Click “Create” ➜ “Material” (or "Assignment").
  3. Select “Add” ➜ “File.”
  4. Upload the downloaded video file.

📝 Tip: ​If you're using another LMS platform, you should be able to follow similar steps to upload the file.

​Once uploaded, students can view the lesson directly inside their LMS without needing to click on a Vimeo link — no blocked content, no frustration. Just smooth math instruction, exactly the way it was meant to be.
